Layne Sumner
Pastor
Pastor Layne has been the Lead Pastor of Fellowship Church since April of 1997. He oversees the preaching and provides pastoral care for the church family. He has been married to his wife, Jana, since 1980. The Sumners have 2 adult children, Emily and Mason.
Layne holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies from Criswell College (Dallas, Texas), a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Studies from Grace Theological Seminary (Winona Lake, Indiana), and a Master of Theology in New Testament from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary (Grand Rapids, Michigan).
Layne has taught as an adjunct faculty member at Grace College and Theological Seminary (1999-2010, nine different courses) and at Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. Layne has served as the Chaplain of the Warsaw Police Department since 2012 and the Warsaw Fire Department since 2017. He is a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and serves with a peer support team that responds to critical incidents and traumatic events and crises in North Central Indiana. Additionally, Layne serves on various councils and boards in Kosciusko County, and he coaches football at Edgewood Middle School (2008-present).
